Weida Communications, Inc. provides products and services for satellite-based communications networks in the People's Republic of China. Through its affiliate, Guangzhou Weida Communications Technology Co., Ltd. (GWC), it provides ground-based equipment and related services to support government and corporate applications, including broadband Internet access, remote meter monitoring, and mission-critical data back-up systems. GWC is a privately-owned company holding a VSAT satellite license in China. Weida Communications offers VSAT networks to the Chinese Government, security forces, and private sectors. It distributes products through direct sales force, distributors, resellers, Internet marketing, as well as joint marketing with strategic allies. The company is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. On March 29, 2006 Weida Communications, Inc. filed a voluntary petition to liquidate under Chapter 7 in the US bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
