China Mobile Limited, formerly China Mobile (Hong Kong) Limited, is an investment holding company. The Company provides mobile telecommunications and related services in 31 provinces, autonomous regions and directly administered municipalities in Mainland China and Hong Kong through 32 subsidiaries. As of December 31, 2006, China Mobile Limited had an aggregate mobile telecommunications subscriber base of over 301.2 million. Its global system for mobile communications (GSM) global roaming services covered 219 countries and regions and its general packet radio service (GPRS) roaming services covered 138 countries and regions. On March 28, 2006, it acquired China Resources Peoples Telephone Company Limited and subsequently changed its name to China Mobile Peoples Telephone Company Limited (Peoples). In May 2007, China Mobile Communications Corporation, the controller of China Mobile Ltd, acquired Pakistan telecommunications operator, Paktel Ltd. Paktel Ltd was renamed as CMPak Ltd. (press)
